Love this winery ❤️ Great atmosphere & very nice wines. Staff were friendly & knowledgeable. I can highly recommend Lauren who looked after us. She made us feel very welcome & was more than happy to help us with our wine selections. Well worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed ????????
Beautiful cozy cellar door with a little shop offering some tasty cheeses and local products. Excellent service from the one staff member even though there were several groups of people to attend to. No charge for tasting and great wine ensured we bought wine!
Beautiful little winery off the main road as you're approaching Clare. They offer complimentary tastings with a small plate of cheese and crackers. Unfortunately they sold out of their Rieslings but managed to leave with some beautiful red wines. Will be back.
Great wine great decor and staff. Loved the complimentary cheese. Owner was lovely when we went back the next day to pick up our wines and also try the new Riesling and rose that they didn’t have the day before.
All the superlatives. Shut the Gate really lived up to the hype. From the moment you're met at the cellar door by the very cool decor and style, this place impresses. The staff were attentive and friendly making for a very pleasant and positive experience. Nothing oozes confidence like talking about other wines one may be familiar with to draw comparison with their own. Well played, a lot of cellar doors avoid this move. The complimentary cheese and cracker platter was a pleasant addition too. The wine list. Well, rather than spoil all the fun, I'll let you discover it for yourself. I can say that the quality is exceptional and even then, a couple of bottles stood out above the rest. A special mention goes to the Grenache and the Pinot Rosé. Brilliant. The pricing is too low. I'll just say that. That's not a complaint or criticism, but some wino lovers shop by price thinking that's where the quality is. Not here folks, dive right in. In summary, loved it and will be back.
